Sources of Data and Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Business and Management Scientists in Kuwait Ranking is primarily based on bibliometric data sourced from OpenAlex and CrossRef, complemented by multiple other reputable data sources. These platforms provide comprehensive and up-to-date metadata on scholarly publications, citations, and author profiles, enabling a robust foundation for bibliometric analysis. The citation-based metrics used to devise the ranking were collected on January 12, 2026, ensuring the utilization of recent and relevant data. A scientist’s position in the ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), a refined metric that exclusively incorporates papers and citation metrics relevant to the specific discipline under examination, in this case, Business and Management.
Scope of Research Analyzed
The ranking methodology involved an extensive examination of 279,971 scientist profiles identified through a variety of bibliometric databases across all scientific disciplines. Specifically, 1,520 scientists from the Business and Management field were analyzed. To qualify for inclusion in the ranking, a researcher’s D-index had to be at least 30, reflecting a substantial disciplinary research impact. Additionally, the majority of their tier publications needed to be within the Business and Management domain, ensuring disciplinary relevance. Beyond quantitative measures, awards and achievements pertinent to Business and Management were also considered as part of the evaluation process.
The threshold for the D-index is adjusted in increments of 10, depending on the estimated total number of scholars per discipline. This scaling strategy guarantees the inclusion of the top 1% of leading scholars, maintaining a rigorous standard across diverse fields. Furthermore, to ensure alignment between general and disciplinary impact, a maximum acceptable proximity of 30% or less is maintained between a scientist’s overall H-index and their D-index.
Additional Verification Practices
Recognizing the limitations of raw bibliometric data as absolute evaluative tools, the Research.com team implemented a thorough manual verification process. Each scientist profile was meticulously cross-correlated with publications indexed in a broad range of trustworthy sources to validate authorship and disciplinary relevance. While the number of papers published in prominent journals and conference proceedings is not a direct factor influencing a researcher’s ranking position, it serves as a valuable secondary indicator of their contribution to Business and Management research.
The ranking position is founded squarely on each researcher’s D-index, calculated from data compiled via OpenAlex and CrossRef—two of the most prominent and widely respected bibliometric databases accessible to the global research community. This dual-source approach enhances the reliability and credibility of the ranking. For an in-depth understanding of the methodology applied, please refer to our methodology page.
