Data Sources and Ranking Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Animal Science and Veterinary Scientists in Slovenia Ranking is derived from comprehensive bibliometric data primarily sourced from OpenAlex and CrossRef, along with multiple other reputable data repositories. The bibliometric data used to calculate citation-based metrics was collected on January 12, 2026. A scientist’s position in the ranking is determined based on their D-index (Discipline H-index), a refined metric that accounts exclusively for publications and citation counts within the specific discipline under examination—Animal Science and Veterinary. This ensures that each researcher’s impact is assessed according to relevant scholarly contributions within their field.
Scope of Research and Ranking Criteria
The ranking encompasses a broad examination of 279,971 scientist profiles identified from an array of bibliometric data sources across all scientific disciplines. Specifically, 1 scientist from the Animal Science and Veterinary discipline in Slovenia was analyzed in detail. To qualify for inclusion, a scientist’s D-index had to meet a minimum threshold of 20, with the majority of their tier publications focused on Animal Science and Veterinary research. In addition to bibliometric measures, scientists’ professional awards and recognized achievements in the field were also taken into account.
The threshold for the D-index is calibrated as an increment of 10 based on the total estimated number of scholars in each discipline, ensuring that the top 1% of leading experts are consistently represented across fields. Furthermore, to guarantee relevance and specialization, the ranking includes only those researchers whose general H-index and discipline-specific D-index exhibit a proximity of 30% or less, highlighting their focused productivity and influence within Animal Science and Veterinary.
Verification and Validation Practices
The Research.com team recognizes that raw bibliometric data are not absolute indicators of scholarly output and impact. Consequently, all scientist profiles selected for the ranking underwent manual verification, including cross-correlation against publications indexed in multiple trusted and authoritative sources. Although the number of papers published in prominent journals and conference proceedings does not directly influence the position in the ranking, it remains a valuable secondary indicator of a researcher’s overall contribution and standing within the scientific community.
Positions within the ranking are ultimately established through each researcher’s D-index calculated from data retrieved primarily from OpenAlex and CrossRef, the most comprehensive and widely recognized bibliometric repositories available to the scientific research community.
