Paris Dauphine University (Université Paris-Dauphine), also referred to as Dauphine, is a public research university located in Paris, France. Founded in 1968, it is the only institution in the country that is categorized as both a university and a grande école, which is a type of French higher education institution that is separate from but parallel or connected to the country’s main public university system. In 2009, the university became the first, and as of 2020, the only university in the country to receive the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) accreditation, which is equivalent to academic excellence recognition.
Paris Dauphine University is recognized for its multidisciplinary approach to higher education. The university offers a wide range of programs under the fields known collectively as Organization and Decision Sciences. These include Economics, Management, Political Science, Management Information Systems, Sociology, Applied Mathematics, Languages, and Law.
The university also offers several management degrees, including International Management, Telecommunication and Media Management, and General Management. Because of its excellent management programs, the university has been given a high ranking in the 2018 QS Business Master’s Ranking. Providing courses in these fields of study aside, the Paris Dauphine University also strives to enhance students’ abilities in Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
As of 2020, the university has a total enrollment of about 12,500 students, 35% of which are taking up undergraduate programs, while more than 60% are enrolled in master’s and doctorate programs. Meanwhile, the rest are taking up executive education. Furthermore, more than 20% of the student population is composed of international students that come from around 40 countries.
Paris Dauphine University is home to six research centers that focus on the sector of Decision and Organization Sciences. These include the Research Center in Applied Mathematics (CEREMADE), Dauphine Center for Legal Research (CR2D), Dauphine Management Research (DRM), Interdisciplinary Research Institute for Social Science (IRISSO), Laboratory for Analyzing and Modeling Decision Support Systems (LAMSADE), and Dauphine Economics Laboratory (LEDA). As of 2020, there are almost 400 researchers and research professors at the university.
With the goal to position itself on the global education platform, the university has established relationships with more than 300 international universities, most of which are high-ranking institutions. The university also maintains ties within the business sector, allowing them to maximize internships and apprenticeship opportunities. These affiliations represent the university’s efforts on community-building.
Moreover, Paris Dauphine University has co-founded Université PSL, which is a major multidisciplinary alliance in France. The alliance has received an Excellence Initiatives (IdEx) award from an international jury.
