Overview
The University of Crete (UoC) is a multidisciplinary research-focused university located in Greece. While it is considered a relatively young university compared to its contemporaries, it is one of the most reputable and academically acclaimed educational institutions in the area. It aims to produce high-quality education and research by promoting the link between the two. As such, most of its research initiatives are closely integrated with its faculties.
The public university's close focus on research makes it one of the leading institutions in the country. It is active in the ever-changing process of European integration by taking part in the European Research and Education Areas. Additionally, it is a participant in various programs in the European Union, such as the Erasmus Program, the LINGUA program, and the TEMPUS program. It also maintains strong links to other academic institutions in Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean, and the United States.
It maintains two campuses on the island located in Heraklion and Rethymnon. The Heraklion Campus houses most of the liberal arts and social science disciplines. On the other hand, programs in science are mostly in the Rethymnon Campus.
UoC offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs across different study areas, such as Philology, History, Archaeology, Sociology, Psychology, and Education. It also has strong technical and science programs, including Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Materials Sciences, and even Medicine. These various departments are further organized into different schools, namely the School of Education (Rethymnon Campus), the School of Philosophy (Rethymnon Campus), the School of Social, Economic and Political Sciences (Rethymnon Campus), the School of Medicine (Heraklion Campus), and the School of Science and Engineering (Heraklion Campus).
Its research initiatives are known across Greece and around the world. The university is continuously among the top institutions nationally and internationally. Many of its research projects are conducted in conjunction with the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas, a research center managed by the Ministry for Education. Furthermore, the Natural History Museum of Crete was established in Heraklion as part of the university's research efforts.
Studying at UoC is a combination of tradition and modern living. The university features some of the country's newest facilities, such as laboratories, an extensive library, state-of-the-art classrooms, and more. Students can also enjoy the gym, basketball and volleyball court, and other recreational facilities. On the other hand, the island of Crete offers a unique experience with its restaurants, taverns, and a lighthouse with the picturesque seascape as its backdrop.
UoC continues its efforts to become an international research and learning center. Its projects, programs, and other activities show its commitment to adhere to global trends.

D-index
D-index (Discipline H-index) only includes papers and citation values for an examined discipline in
contrast to General H-index which accounts for publications across all disciplines.
Our research was coordinated by Imed Bouchrika, PhD, a computer scientist with a well-established record
of collaboration on a number of international research projects with different partners from the academic
community. His role was to make sure all data remained unbiased, accurate, and up-to-date.
We list only scientists having D-Index >= 30 within the area of
Computer Science. If you or other scholars are not listed, we appreciate if you can
