The bibliometric data utilized to devise the citation-based metrics for this ranking were gathered on January 12, 2026. To precisely evaluate and position scientists within the ranking, the methodology relies on a researcher's D-index (Discipline H-index). This metric is discipline-specific—it includes only the papers and citation metrics pertinent to the field of Psychology, thereby providing a focused and accurate assessment of scholarly impact within the discipline.
Scope of Research and Qualification Criteria
Our analysis considered a broad pool of 279,971 scientist profiles identified through a variety of bibliometric data sources across all academic disciplines. Specifically, 4 scientists specializing in Psychology within the Czech Republic were singled out for inclusion.
To qualify for the Psychology ranking, a scientist was required to have a D-index of at least 30, with a majority of their tier publications falling squarely within the Psychology domain. In addition to publication metrics, recognition of awards and notable achievements in the field of Psychology were factored into qualifying assessments.
The threshold for the D-index is dynamically set in increments of 10 depending on the estimated total number of scholars within each discipline. This approach ensures that the ranking consistently captures the top 1% of leading researchers. Moreover, a proximity threshold of 30% or less between a scientist’s general H-index and their D-index was enforced to maintain discipline-specific relevance and avoid distortions arising from contributions in unrelated fields.
Additional Verification Practices
Understanding the limitations inherent in raw bibliometric data, the researchers behind this ranking undertook thorough manual verification of all scientist profiles. Each profile was cross-correlated against publications listed in a wide range of trustworthy and credible sources to validate authorship accuracy and scholarly impact.
Although not a direct factor influencing position within the Research.com ranking, the number of papers published in prominent journals and conference proceedings was carefully monitored as a valuable secondary indicator of a scientist’s contribution to their specific research area.
The final position in the ranking was established using each researcher’s D-index derived from the extensive data collected via OpenAlex and CrossRef, recognized as the most prominent and reliable bibliometric databases accessible to the research community today.
