The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Immunology Scientists in Venezuela Ranking is founded on comprehensive bibliometric data primarily sourced from OpenAlex and CrossRef, complemented by multiple additional data repositories to ensure breadth and accuracy. The bibliometric data utilized for calculating the citation-based metrics were collected on January 12, 2026. A scientist’s position in the ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), a specialized metric that considers only those publications and citation counts strictly within the examined discipline of Immunology. This approach allows for a refined and discipline-specific evaluation of research impact.
Scope of Research and Selection Criteria
Our ranking process examined a total of 187,135 scientist profiles aggregated from various bibliometric databases across all scientific disciplines. Specifically, 1,000 scientists within the field of Immunology were identified and evaluated. To qualify for inclusion in this ranking, researchers must have maintained a D-index of at least 40, with the majority of their tier publications focusing on Immunology. Additionally, notable awards and achievements pertinent to the field were incorporated as supplementary qualifying factors.
The D-index threshold for consideration is dynamically set in increments of 10 based on the estimated total number of scholars within each discipline, assuring that the top 1% of leading researchers are represented. Furthermore, it is required that the proximity between a scientist’s general H-index and their D-index does not exceed 30%, ensuring a strong alignment between their overall research output and their discipline-specific contribution.
Verification Practices and Methodological Rigor
The team behind this ranking is acutely aware that raw bibliometric data cannot serve as the sole instrument for assessing scholarly impact. Consequently, all scientist profiles were manually verified and cross-correlated against a broad array of trustworthy sources to validate publication records and disciplinary relevance. Although not directly factored into a researcher’s ranking position, the number of publications in prominent journals and conference proceedings is recognized as a valuable secondary indicator of scientific contribution.
The ranking is ultimately established using each researcher’s D-index, computed from data aggregated via OpenAlex and CrossRef—two of the most prominent, transparent, and widely respected bibliometric databases accessible to the global research community.
