Data Sources and Citation Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Immunology Scientists in Lebanon Ranking is based on comprehensive bibliometric data primarily sourced from OpenAlex and CrossRef, complemented by multiple other reputable data repositories. The bibliometric data used to devise citation-based metrics were collected on January 12, 2026. A scientist’s position within this ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), a refined bibliometric indicator that accounts exclusively for publications and citation metrics within the specific discipline of Immunology. This approach ensures that the ranking reflects a researcher’s influence and productivity in their specialized field, rather than their overall output.
Scope of Research and Eligibility Criteria
The ranking evaluates 187,135 scientist profiles aggregated from various bibliometric data sources across all scientific disciplines, with a focused examination on 2 scientists specializing in Immunology in Lebanon. To qualify for inclusion, a scientist’s D-index must be at least 40, ensuring that only highly impactful researchers are considered. Additionally, the majority of their tier publications are required to be within the Immunology domain, reinforcing discipline-specific expertise. Complementing these quantitative measures, researchers’ awards and notable achievements within Immunology are also factored into the consideration process.
The D-index threshold is adjusted in increments of 10 based on the estimated total number of scholars in each discipline, a methodology designed to consistently integrate the top 1% of leading scholars. Moreover, candidate profiles must demonstrate a proximity of 30% or less between their general H-index and their D-index, ensuring that their scholarly influence is focused rather than broadly dispersed across unrelated areas.
Verification and Validation Practices
Recognizing that raw bibliometric data alone cannot fully capture the impact or quality of scientific output, the Research.com team undertakes rigorous manual verification of all scientist profiles. This meticulous cross-correlation against publications listed in a broad array of authoritative sources helps to validate authenticity and accuracy. Although not factored directly into the final ranking, the number of publications in prominent journals and respected conference proceedings is considered a valuable secondary signal of a scientist’s contribution to their field.
Ultimately, the ranking’s positioning system is anchored on each researcher’s D-index, derived from data gathered primarily from OpenAlex and CrossRef—the most prominent and reliable bibliometric databases accessible to the global research community.
