Data Sources and Bibliometric Collection
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Immunology Scientists in Bangladesh Ranking is grounded in comprehensive bibliometric data sourced primarily from OpenAlex and CrossRef, complemented by multiple other reputable data repositories. To ensure currency and accuracy, the citation-based metrics utilized in formulating the ranking were collected on January 12, 2026. A scientist’s position within the ranking is determined through the Discipline H-index, or D-index, which evaluates only the papers and citation metrics directly related to the immunology discipline, thereby providing a focused and discipline-specific measure of research impact.
Scope of Research and Qualification Criteria
For this ranking, a total of 187,135 scientist profiles identified across a broad array of bibliometric data sources were thoroughly examined spanning all disciplines, with 1 scientist specifically profiled under Immunology from Bangladesh. To qualify for inclusion, a researcher’s D-index needed to be at least 40, ensuring a high standard of disciplinary impact. Furthermore, the majority of their tier publications had to be within the field of Immunology. In addition to bibliometric indicators, a scientist’s awards and significant achievements within Immunology were also factored into the evaluation.
The threshold for the D-index is determined using increments of 10, calibrated to the estimated total number of scholars within each discipline, while guaranteeing that the top 1% of leading researchers are captured for the ranking. To ensure disciplinary relevance and consistency, the proximity between a scientist’s overall H-index and their Immunology-specific D-index must be 30% or less, balancing general scholarly impact with focused domain expertise.
Verification Practices and Methodological Rigor
We rigorously acknowledge that raw bibliometric data alone cannot serve as an absolute measure of a scholar’s scientific contributions. Accordingly, all scientist profiles involved in this ranking underwent manual verification and cross-correlation against publications indexed in a wide range of trusted sources. While the total number of papers published in prestigious journals and conference proceedings does not directly affect the ranking position, it serves as a valuable secondary signal reflecting a scientist’s contribution and standing within the Immunology research community.
The ranking position itself is firmly established using each researcher's D-index, with data drawn from OpenAlex and CrossRef, two of the most prominent and well-regarded bibliometric databases openly accessible to the research community worldwide.
