All bibliometric data used to devise the citation-based metrics featured in this ranking were collected as of January 12, 2026. The ranking of each scientist is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), a refined metric that measures scholarly impact strictly within a given discipline by considering only papers and citations pertinent to that specific field.
Scope of Research and Inclusion Criteria
The 2026 ranking examined 279,971 scientist profiles aggregated across all academic disciplines from an array of bibliometric data sources. Within this broad spectrum, 9 scientists specializing in Computer Science in Iraq were identified and evaluated.
To qualify for inclusion in the Computer Science ranking, candidates were required to have a minimum D-index of 30. Additionally, the majority of their highest-tier publications needed to be directly related to Computer Science. Beyond bibliometric thresholds, recognized awards and significant achievements in the field were also factored into consideration to ensure a well-rounded assessment of each researcher’s contributions.
The threshold D-index values were calibrated in increments of 10 according to the estimated total number of scholars per discipline. This approach guarantees representation of the top 1% of leading researchers within each domain. Furthermore, to ensure disciplinary focus, scientists included in the ranking typically exhibited a disparity of 30% or less between their general H-index and their D-index.
Verification and Methodological Rigor
While raw bibliometric data offers essential insights, the Research.com team acknowledges that such data alone cannot provide absolute evaluation of scholarly output. Accordingly, every scientist profile included in this ranking underwent a meticulous manual verification process. Publications were cross-checked against a wide range of credible sources to validate authenticity and relevance.
Although not directly contributing to the ranking position, the quantity of publications in prominent journals and conference proceedings continues to serve as a valuable secondary indicator of a scientist’s impact within Computer Science.
The final rankings are established primarily through the D-index calculated from data obtained via OpenAlex and CrossRef — widely recognized as the most prominent and reliable bibliometric databases accessible to the research community.
