Data Sources and Citation Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Business and Management Scientists in Vietnam Ranking is underpinned by comprehensive bibliometric data primarily sourced from OpenAlex and CrossRef, alongside multiple other reputable bibliometric databases. These sources are recognized for their extensive coverage and reliability in capturing scholarly outputs and citation information across disciplines. The citation-based metrics utilized in this ranking were compiled on January 12, 2026. A researcher’s position within the ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), which specifically measures scholarly impact by including only publications and citations pertinent to the examined discipline, thereby providing a focused and accurate assessment of contribution within Business and Management.
Scope of Research and Qualification Criteria
The ranking considers a vast dataset comprised of 279,971 scientist profiles identified from a diverse array of bibliometric data sources covering all academic disciplines. Within this dataset, three scientists specializing in Business and Management were specifically examined in depth. To qualify for inclusion in the Business and Management ranking, a scientist must possess a D-index of at least 30. Additionally, the majority of their tier publications must be firmly situated in Business and Management to ensure disciplinary relevance. Beyond bibliometric indicators, awards and notable achievements within Business and Management were also taken into account as supplementary factors reflecting scholarly excellence.
The D-index threshold for top researchers is calibrated in increments of 10, adjusted according to the total estimated number of scholars within each discipline. This approach ensures the inclusion of the top 1% of leading scholars globally while maintaining discipline-specific rigor. Moreover, to guarantee consistency in disciplinary focus, researchers considered for the list exhibit a maximum proximity gap of 30% or less between their overall H-index and their discipline-specific D-index.
Verification and Methodological Rigor
Recognizing that raw bibliometric data alone cannot fully encapsulate the breadth and quality of scholarly output, all scientist profiles included in this ranking underwent meticulous manual verification. This process involved cross-correlation against publications in a broad spectrum of trustworthy sources to validate accuracy and academic relevance. Although not factored directly into the final ranking position, the volume of publications in prominent journals and highly regarded conference proceedings serves as an important secondary signal of a researcher’s contribution within Business and Management.
The ranking positions are established using each researcher’s D-index based on data aggregated from OpenAlex and CrossRef, which are the most authoritative and widely used bibliometric databases available to the research community today. This dual-source approach enhances the robustness and credibility of the ranking results. For a detailed exposition of the methodology applied, we encourage readers to review our methodology page.
