Data Sources and Citation Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Business and Management Scientists in Lebanon Ranking is primarily based on bibliometric data collected from the OpenAlex and CrossRef databases, supplemented by multiple other reputable data sources. These platforms are recognized for their comprehensive and reliable coverage of scientific publications and citation records. The bibliometric data used to calculate citation-based metrics for this ranking were gathered on January 12, 2026. A scientist’s position in the ranking is determined by their Discipline H-index (D-index), which exclusively considers their scholarly output and citation impact within the specific discipline under examination—in this case, Business and Management.
Scope of Research and Qualification Criteria
Across all academic disciplines, a total of 279,971 scientist profiles were analyzed from diverse bibliometric data sources to identify leading researchers. Specifically, within the Business and Management domain, 1,072 scientists were examined. To qualify for inclusion in this ranking, a scientist’s D-index had to be at least 30, and the majority of their tier publications needed to be concentrated in Business and Management. Additionally, notable awards and professional achievements in this field were factored into the evaluation.
The threshold for the D-index is adjusted in increments of 10 depending on the estimated total number of scholars within each discipline, ensuring that the top 1% of leading researchers are systematically represented. Moreover, only those individuals whose general H-index and D-index differ by 30% or less are considered, assuring a strong alignment between overall productivity and discipline-specific impact.
Verification and Validation Practices
Recognizing that raw bibliometric data alone cannot fully capture a scholar's research output and impact, the evaluation process incorporates rigorous manual verification. Each scientist’s profile was carefully reviewed and cross-referenced with publications documented in a wide range of authoritative and trustworthy sources. While the number of papers published in prestigious journals and conference proceedings does not directly influence ranking position, it serves as an important secondary indicator of a researcher’s substantive contributions to Business and Management science.
The ranking positions are established explicitly through each researcher’s D-index as derived from data aggregated by OpenAlex and CrossRef—two of the most prominent and widely recognized bibliometric databases accessible to the global research community.
