Data Sources and Citation Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Business and Management Scientists in Greece Ranking is grounded in comprehensive bibliometric data primarily sourced from OpenAlex and CrossRef, alongside multiple other reputable data repositories. The citation-based metrics used to establish this ranking were meticulously compiled on January 12, 2026. A scientist’s position within the ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), which exclusively considers publications and citation metrics relevant to the specific discipline under evaluation, in this case, Business and Management.
Scope of Research and Inclusion Criteria
The ranking examined a total of 279,971 scientist profiles identified from a variety of bibliometric data sources across all disciplines, with 14 scientists specifically recognized within Business and Management. To qualify for inclusion, a researcher’s D-index had to be at least 30, ensuring a benchmark of substantial scholarly impact. Furthermore, the majority of a qualifying scientist’s tier publications were required to be within the domain of Business and Management. Awards and notable achievements within this field were also factored into the qualification criteria.
The threshold for the D-index varies incrementally by 10 points relative to the estimated population size of scholars within each discipline, guaranteeing representation of the top 1% of leading experts. Additionally, eligibility required a proximity of 30% or less between a scientist’s general H-index and their D-index, ensuring that their impact is predominantly aligned with the examined discipline.
Additional Verification Practices
Recognizing the inherent limitations of raw bibliometric data as a singular measure of scholarly contribution, the researchers behind this ranking implemented rigorous manual verification processes. All scientist profiles were cross-correlated against publications indexed in a broad spectrum of trustworthy sources to confirm accuracy and relevance.
While the number of publications in prominent journals and conference proceedings does not directly affect a researcher’s ranking position, it is acknowledged as a valuable secondary indicator of scientific contribution within a specific area. The D-index values that form the basis of the ranking positions were derived from data provided by OpenAlex and CrossRef, two of the most authoritative and widely utilized bibliometric databases accessible to the research community.
