This ranking was developed from an extensive pool of 279,971 scientist profiles identified from diverse bibliometric data repositories, covering all academic disciplines. Within this comprehensive dataset, 32 scientists specializing in Animal Science and Veterinary Sciences were specifically examined to determine the leading experts in Austria.
To qualify for inclusion in the ranking, a scientist needed to have a minimum D-index of 20. Furthermore, a majority of their tier publications had to be within the domain of Animal Science and Veterinary research, ensuring the disciplinary relevance of their scholarly contributions. Consideration was also given to awards and achievements within the field, adding an additional qualitative dimension to the evaluation.
The threshold for the D-index is calibrated as increments of 10 based on the total estimated number of scholars within each discipline, ensuring that the top 1% of leading researchers are consistently incorporated. Additionally, candidates are selected such that there is a proximity of 30% or less between their general H-index and their D-index, underscoring a focused expertise and consistent impact within the specific discipline.
