The Harish-Chandra Research Institute (HRI), established in 1975, is a premier public research institution located in Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad), India. Initially founded as the Mehta Research Institute of Mathematics and Mathematical Physics, HRI was renamed in honor of the eminent mathematician Harish-Chandra in 2000. As a unit of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, HRI is recognized for its research-intensive milieu.
