The Xi'an Jiaotong University is a C9 League institution that is noted for its programs in management, technology, engineering, and life sciences. It is classified as a Class A Double First-Class University by the Chinese Ministry of Education. Established in 1896, the university caters to thousands of students and faculty members on their main campus in Shaanxi, China, and their satellite campuses in Quijang, Xingqing, and Yanta.
The university offers undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs across its schools and colleges. Students can choose to study in different interest areas such as Science, Medicine, Engineering, Management, Economics, Art, Law, Education, and Philosophy. Additionally, it is affiliated with numerous teaching hospitals to ensure high-quality learning for its students enrolled in the medicine program.
Aside from degree-granting programs, XJTU also offers the Honors Youth Program of Xi'an Jiaotong University. It is a high school program that accepts high school freshmen each year in one of its affiliate high schools: Tianjin Nankai High School, Suzhou High School-SIP, and High School Affiliated to Xi'an Jiaotong University. Students who pass and finish their coursework can enroll in XJTU without having to take the Gaokao, also known as the National College Entrance Examination. Similarly, undergraduate students who can finish their programs can be admitted to XJTU's master's programs without the need to take the Postgraduate Admission Test.
XJTU is also one of the first universities to implement full online learning programs through its Internet Education School. It was established and approved under the Chinese Ministry of Education's supervision to establish innovative distance education. The university collaborates with other universities and organizations.
Aside from its academic programs, XJT also offers a campus life that is rich with culture and new experiences through the combination of the activities in the university and the traditional setting of Xi'an. Students have access to extensive resources in Qian Xuesen Library located in the Xingqing Campus. It houses an extensive collection of books, current periodicals (printed and digital), and digital resources. Additionally, they have access to on-campus accommodation with its modern dormitories. The Siyuan Student Activities Center is a great place to socialize and participate in recreational and athletic activities. The university also provides health and wellness services through its medical and counseling centers.
Embracing Xi'an's traditional and ancient roots as the start of the Silk Road, XJTU initiated the Silk Road University Alliance. It is a nonprofit and nongovernmental international cooperation in higher education. It aims to establish and maintain cooperation and collaboration among its members, which are educational institutes along the Silk Road routes. Its members are from various locations in Asia, Africa, and Europe. Some members are also from Australia and North America.
