University of Pitesti (Universitatea din Pitești or UPIT) is a public university located in Piteşti, Romania. It was established in 1991, tracing its origins to the founding of the first higher education institution in the city, the 3-year Pedagogical Institute, in 1962, which was followed by the opening of the Institute of Sub-Engineers in 1969. UPIT belongs to the top-ranked educational institutions in the country with contributions to the fields of computer science, engineering, and mathematics.
