The 2nd edition of Research.com ranking of the best universities in the discipline
of Political Science relies os data combined from
various data sources including OpenAlex and CrossRef. The bibliometric data for
estimating the citation-based metrics were acquired on 21-12-2022.
Position in the ranking is based on a sum of D-indexes (Discipline H-index) of all ranking
scientist's affiliated with a given institution. D-index
takes into account only papers and citation
metrics for an examined discipline.

The scope of our Political Science research
Our best universities ranking is a reliable account of
leading scholars from the area of Political Science ,
based on a detailed study
of 166,880 scholars discovered from
a variety of bibliometric data sources. For the field of
Political Science, more than 1698 scientists were
examined.
What is D-index approval threshold for Political Science
The D-index threshold for accepting a researcher to be
considered is established at 20 if
most of their publications are in the discipline of Political Science. The
acceptance factors for scholars to be
considered into the ranking of top researchers are based on the D-index,
ratio of the contributions made within the selected
discipline plus the awards and achievements of the
scientists. The D-index threshold for listing best
researchers is set as an increment of 10 depending on the total number of
scientists estimated for each
scientific field whilst guaranteeing that the top 1% of
leading scholars are incorporated into the list.
There should be a proximity of 30% or less between a
researcher’s general H-index and their D-index.
Other verification practices
Because our leading goal is to ensure that only
actual researchers are included in
the ranking we realize that numbers are never
meant to be a full measure to assess the
work of scientists. Because of that
we manually inspect every profile and cross-correlate it against publications in a
varied range of reliable sources. Even though it’s not a
factor impacting a scientist’s position in
our ranking, the number of papers published in
well-known journals and conference proceedings should constitute a
reliable secondary implication of their contribution to research in a
given area of science. Position in the ranking is
based on each scholar’s D-index
according to data collected from OpenAlex and
CrossRef, which are the most trustworthy and well-established bibliometric
databases of this kind accessible to the scientific community. A
thorough explanation of our research process
can be found on our
methodology page.
Our agenda
Our goal is to motivate scientists,
businessmen and decision-makers
worldwide to explore where top experts are heading
and to offer a way for the whole scientific community to
get to know who the leading experts in specific
disciplines, in different countries, or even within research
institutions are.
