To qualify for inclusion in the ranking, a scientist must have achieved a minimum D-index of 30, with a majority of their tier publications concentrated in the Social Sciences and Humanities domain. In addition to bibliometric metrics, notable awards and recognized achievements within the field were also taken into account to enrich the evaluation and corroborate the researcher’s standing.
The threshold for the D-index is dynamically set in increments of 10, calibrated based on the total estimated number of scholars in each discipline, ensuring that the ranking consistently incorporates the top 1% of leading experts across all fields. Furthermore, to confirm disciplinary focus, a scientist’s general H-index and D-index must not differ by more than 30%, safeguarding that the ranking reflects dedicated contributions to Social Sciences and Humanities specifically.
