Data Sources and Ranking Basis
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Physics Scientists in Czechia Ranking relies on comprehensive bibliometric data aggregated primarily from OpenAlex and CrossRef, supplemented by multiple other reputable data sources. The citation-based metrics utilized for this ranking were collected on January 12, 2026, ensuring the most up-to-date and accurate representation of academic contributions. A researcher’s position in this ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), a specialized metric that considers only publications and citations within the specific discipline under examination — in this case, Physics. The D-index thus offers a targeted measure of scholarly impact confined to the researcher’s contributions in Physics alone.
Scope of Research and Eligibility Criteria
The ranking process began with an examination of 279,971 scientist profiles identified across diverse bibliometric databases and spanning all academic disciplines. Within this expansive dataset, 5 scientists specializing specifically in Physics were evaluated for inclusion. To qualify for the ranking, a researcher’s D-index had to be at least 70, accompanied by a majority of their tier publications being within the field of Physics. Additionally, consideration was given to scientists’ awards and recognized achievements in Physics to further substantiate their standing.
The threshold of a D-index score was calibrated in increments of 10, depending on the estimated total number of scholars per discipline, to ensure the inclusion of the top 1% of leading researchers from each field. Furthermore, a proximity criterion was applied whereby the gap between a scientist’s general H-index and their D-index was limited to 30% or less, emphasizing consistent research focus within Physics.
Verification and Validation Practices
Recognizing the inherent limitations of raw bibliometric data, the Research.com team implemented rigorous manual verification procedures as part of the ranking process. Each scientist’s profile was meticulously reviewed and cross-correlated against publications listed in a wide array of trustworthy academic sources to confirm the accuracy and relevance of their research output. While the number of papers published in prominent journals and conference proceedings does not directly influence ranking placement, it serves as a valuable secondary indicator of a scientist’s contributions to their discipline.
The ranking positions are established strictly using each researcher’s D-index as derived from the bibliometric information gathered from OpenAlex and CrossRef, the most prominent and widely respected databases available to the research community.
