Data Sources and Citation Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Physics Scientists in Czechia Ranking is developed based on comprehensive bibliometric data primarily sourced from OpenAlex and CrossRef, supplemented by multiple other reputable data sources. The citation-based metrics utilized to formulate the ranking were collected on January 12, 2026. A scientist’s position within the ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), which considers only publications and citation metrics strictly within the discipline of Physics. This targeted approach ensures that the evaluation accurately reflects a researcher’s impact and contributions in their specific field.
Scope of Research and Qualification Criteria
The ranking process examined 188,172 scientist profiles identified from a wide variety of bibliometric databases across all disciplines. Among these, 5 scientists specializing in Physics were identified for detailed assessment. To qualify for inclusion in this Physics-specific ranking, a scientist’s D-index had to meet a minimum threshold of 70, with a requirement that the majority of their tier publications were centered on Physics research. Additionally, distinguished awards and achievements relevant to the field of Physics were factored into the evaluation process.
The threshold for the D-index is dynamically set in increments of 10 relative to the estimated total number of scholars per discipline while ensuring that the top 1% of leading scientists are represented in the list. An important quality control measure requires that the proximity between a scientist’s overall H-index and their D-index remains within 30% or less, maintaining consistency between general research impact and discipline-specific influence.
Verification and Validation Practices
Understanding the limitations of raw bibliometric data as a sole indicator of scholarly output, the researchers behind this ranking implement rigorous manual verification processes. Each scientist profile included in the ranking is cross-correlated against authoritative publications from a diverse range of trustworthy academic sources. While not contributing directly to the ranking position, the number of papers published in prominent journals and high-impact conference proceedings is recognized as a valuable secondary indicator of a scientist’s contribution to the field.
The final ranking positions are established using each researcher’s D-index calculated from data aggregated via OpenAlex and CrossRef, which are among the most prominent and widely acknowledged bibliometric databases accessible to the research community.
