Data Sources and Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Scientists in Bangladesh Ranking is constructed primarily using bibliometric data sourced from OpenAlex and CrossRef, complemented by multiple other reputable data sources within the scientific community. The citation-based metrics that underpin this ranking were collected and compiled on January 12, 2026. A researcher’s position in the ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), a specialized metric that exclusively considers papers and citation counts within the examined discipline—Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in this case—ensuring discipline-specific rigor and relevance.
Scope of Research and Eligibility Criteria
Our comprehensive evaluation encompassed 279,971 scientist profiles drawn from a wide range of bibliometric data sources covering all scientific disciplines globally. Within this vast dataset, 4 scientists specialized in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in Bangladesh were identified and reviewed. To qualify for this ranking, each scientist was required to have a minimum D-index of 30, with the majority of their tier publications firmly positioned within the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering area. Additional factors, such as awards and significant achievements within this discipline, were also carefully considered.
The threshold for the D-index is dynamically set in increments of 10 relative to the estimated total number of active scholars in each discipline. This approach ensures that the ranking captures the top 1% of leading researchers in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Furthermore, to maintain coherence between overall impact and disciplinary focus, a researcher’s general H-index and their D-index must exhibit a proximity of 30% or less.
Verification Practices and Methodological Integrity
At Research.com, we recognize that raw bibliometric data alone cannot fully capture a scholar’s contributions. Accordingly, all scientist profiles were meticulously manually verified and cross-correlated against publications listed in a broad spectrum of trustworthy academic sources. While the number of publications in leading journals and conference proceedings does not directly influence a researcher’s position in the ranking, it serves as an important secondary signal of their intellectual contribution to the field.
The final positioning within the ranking is based solely on the D-index as calculated from data sourced from OpenAlex and CrossRef, which represent the most comprehensive and authoritative bibliometric databases available to the research community today. We invite interested readers to explore the detailed processes and methodology involved on our methodology page.
