Institutional positions in the ranking are determined by the aggregate D-indexes (Discipline H-index) of all affiliated scholars whose primary area of publication is in Business and Management. The D-index exclusively considers publications and citations within the examined discipline, providing a focused and fair assessment of scholarly output within Business and Management.
Scope of Research and Evaluation Criteria
A comprehensive evaluation of 279,971 scientist profiles sourced from a diverse set of bibliometric databases was conducted. Within this corpus, 9,829 scientists specializing in Business and Management were systematically analyzed. Stringent qualification criteria were employed: each scholar was required to meet a minimum D-index threshold of 30, and the majority of their significant publications had to be in Business and Management. Additionally, a scholar’s awards and achievements in this discipline were factored into the assessment.
The D-index qualification threshold increases in increments of 10, contingent on the total number of scholars estimated within each discipline, to ensure that the top 1% of leading scholars are recognized in the final list. A proximity criterion was enforced, mandating that a scholar’s general H-index must not exceed their D-index by more than 30%, thus ensuring disciplinary focus. Furthermore, honors, accolades, and other achievements specific to Business and Management further informed scientist rankings within the dataset.
Additional Verification Practices
The Research.com team acknowledges the inherent limitations of raw bibliometric data as solitary evaluative tools for scholarly output. To address this, all scientist profiles underwent thorough manual verification and cross-referencing with publications across a wide range of trustworthy academic sources. While the sheer volume of papers in prominent journals and major conference proceedings does not directly affect an individual’s or institution’s placement in our rankings, it is recognized as a valuable supplementary indicator of a researcher’s broader impact within their field.
Ranking positions are established based on each researcher’s H-index, as determined by authoritative databases OpenAlex and CrossRef, both preeminent in the research community for their accuracy and comprehensiveness.
