Throughout their career, Marler was recognized with several notable honors. In 1964, they were named a Fellow of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. The following year, in 1965, they became a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). In 1971, Marler was elected as a Member of the National Academy of Sciences.
