Call for Papers

Authors can submit their work in the form of a complete paper or an abstract.

Complete papers can be submitted as a Regular Paper, representing completed and validated research, or as a Position Paper, portraying a short report of work in progress or an arguable opinion about an issue discussing ideas, facts, situations, methods, procedures or results of scientific research focused on one of the conference topic areas.

An abstract can be submitted to the Abstracts Track, either because the work done represents a very early stage of research, or because the authors wish to present to the audience the results of an already published paper. In the latter case the paper cannot be republished. However, the authors can attach to the abstract a complete paper or a video, if permission to share any such complementing materials is provided. The abstract itself can only have a limited number of characters.

Authors should submit a paper in English, carefully checked for correct grammar and spelling, addressing one or several of the conference areas or topics. Each paper should clearly indicate the nature of its technical/scientific contribution, and the problems, domains or environments to which it is applicable. To facilitate the double-blind paper evaluation method, authors are kindly requested to produce and provide the paper WITHOUT any reference to any of the authors, including the authors’ personal details, the acknowledgments section of the paper and any other reference that may disclose the authors’ identity.

When submitting a complete paper please note that only original papers should be submitted. Authors are advised to read INSTICC\'s ethical norms regarding plagiarism and self-plagiarism thoroughly before submitting and must make sure that their submissions do not substantially overlap work which has been published elsewhere or simultaneously submitted to a journal or another conference with proceedings. Papers that contain any form of plagiarism will be rejected without reviews.

All papers must be submitted through the online submission platform PRIMORIS and should follow the instructions and templates that can be found under Guidelines and Templates. After the paper submission has been successfully completed, authors will receive an automatic confirmation e-mail.

Overview

This page presents a comprehensive ranking of scientific conferences in the field of Computer Science, meticulously compiled to reflect excellence and impact within the discipline. The ranking has been developed by Research.com, a prominent authority in science research since 2014, widely recognized for providing reliable data on scientific contributions across all major fields, including Computer Science.

Conference positions in this ranking are determined by a unique bibliometric score devised by Research.com. This score integrates two key indicators: the estimated h-index and the number of leading scientists who have contributed to the conference over the preceding three years. This robust methodology ensures a multi-faceted assessment of conference quality and scientific influence.

The Impact Score values featured in this ranking were collected on 2024-11-27, offering the most current insights available. The evaluation process encompassed a painstaking examination of more than 2,742 conferences, each selected following stringent inspection and extensive review of over 148,739 scientific documents published within the last three years. The analysis reflects contributions from 13,184 distinguished and highly respected computer science researchers, further underlining the credibility and depth of this ranking.

Papers citation over time

A key indicator for each conference is its effectiveness in reaching other researchers with the papers published at that venue.

The chart below presents the interquartile range (first quartile 25%, median 50% and third quartile 75%) of the number of citations of articles over time.

The top authors publishing at Biomedical Engineering Systems and Technologies (based on the number of publications) are:

  • Hugo Gamboa (15 papers) published 1 paper at the last edition, 1 less than at the previous edition,
  • Ana L. N. Fred (10 papers) absent at the last edition,
  • Carolina Ruiz (10 papers) absent at the last edition,
  • Sergio A. Alvarez (8 papers) absent at the last edition,
  • Hermie J. Hermens (8 papers) absent at the last edition.

The overall trend for top authors publishing at this conference is outlined below. The chart shows the number of publications at each edition of the conference for top authors.

Only papers with recognized affiliations are considered

The top affiliations publishing at Biomedical Engineering Systems and Technologies (based on the number of publications) are:

  • University of Porto (24 papers) published 2 papers at the last edition, 3 less than at the previous edition,
  • University of Aveiro (20 papers) published 4 papers at the last edition, 3 more than at the previous edition,
  • University of Pisa (15 papers) published 3 papers at the last edition, 2 more than at the previous edition,
  • University of Lisbon (13 papers) published 1 paper at the last edition, 1 less than at the previous edition,
  • University of Twente (12 papers) published 1 paper at the last edition.

The overall trend for top affiliations publishing at this conference is outlined below. The chart shows the number of publications at each edition of the conference for top affiliations.

Publication chance based on affiliation

The publication chance index shows the ratio of articles published by the best research institutions at the conference edition to all articles published within that conference. The best research institutions were selected based on the largest number of articles published during all editions of the conference.

The chart below presents the percentage ratio of articles from top institutions (based on their ranking of total papers).Top affiliations were grouped by their rank into the following tiers: top 1-10, top 11-20, top 21-50, and top 51+. Only articles with a recognized affiliation are considered.

During the most recent 2019 edition, 9.77% of publications had an unrecognized affiliation. Out of the publications with recognized affiliations, 15.83% were posted by at least one author from the top 10 institutions publishing at the conference. Another 5.83% included authors affiliated with research institutions from the top 11-20 affiliations. Institutions from the 21-50 range included 14.17% of all publications and 64.17% were from other institutions.

Returning Authors Index

A very common phenomenon observed among researchers publishing scientific articles is the intentional selection of conferences they have already attended in the past. In particular, it is worth analyzing the case when the authors participate in the same conference from year to year.

The Returning Authors Index presented below illustrates the ratio of authors who participated in both a given as well as the previous edition of the conference in relation to all participants in a given year.

Returning Institution Index

The graph below shows the Returning Institution Index, illustrating the ratio of institutions that participated in both a given and the previous edition of the conference in relation to all affiliations present in a given year.

The experience to innovation index

Our experience to innovation index was created to show a cross-section of the experience level of authors publishing at a conference. The index includes the authors publishing at the last edition of a conference, grouped by total number of publications throughout their academic career (P) and the total number of citations of these publications ever received (C).

The group intervals were selected empirically to best show the diversity of the authors' experiences, their labels were selected as a convenience, not as judgment. The authors were divided into the following groups:

  • Novice - P < 5 or C < 25 (the number of publications less than 5 or the number of citations less than 25),
  • Competent - P < 10 or C < 100 (the number of publications less than 10 or the number of citations less than 100),
  • Experienced - P < 25 or C < 625 (the number of publications less than 25 or the number of citations less than 625),
  • Master - P < 50 or C < 2500 (the number of publications less than 50 or the number of citations less than 2500),
  • Star - P ≥ 50 and C ≥ 2500 (both the number of publications greater than 50 and the number of citations greater than 2500).

The chart below illustrates experience levels of first authors in cases of publications with multiple authors.
