Call for Papers

WISEE is IEEE’s premier wireless sensing and communications conference for space and extreme environments. The conference is traditionally generously attended by engineers and scientists from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), the European Space Agency (ESA), and other space agencies, along with aerospace and space defense industries and academic researchers, in an effort to understand and solve the emerging problems in the field, present advancements in the state-of-the-art of wireless technologies, introduce novel scientific concepts, and network with the vibrant technical community.

Wireless communications and sensing technologies are essential for space, aviation, and extreme environment applications, such as planetary surfaces, space vehicles, space habitats, and satellites. The many challenges faced in space sensing and communication are extremely diverse and overlap significantly with those found in many terrestrial examples of extreme environments such as extreme hot or cold locations, extremely high- or low-pressure environments, critical control loops in aircraft and nuclear power plants, high-speed rotating equipment, oil/gas pipelines, and platforms, etc. All of these environments pose significant challenges for radio-frequency or optical wireless sensing and communication and will require the application of a broad range of state-of-the-art technologies to generate reliable and cost-effective solutions. Although the specific challenges vary significantly from environment to environment, many of the solutions offered by sensing, communication, and statistical signal processing technologies can be applied in multiple environments, and researchers focusing on space applications can benefit greatly from understanding the problems encountered and solutions applied in alternative environments.

Related Online Degrees & Career Pathways

Exploring Electronics and Electrical Engineering opens doors to various interdisciplinary fields and career options. For those balancing education with family commitments, especially military families, finding a flexible program is key. Resources like online school for military spouses offer tailored opportunities that accommodate unique scheduling needs.

Additionally, degree seekers interested in education roles might consider pathways like an online edd no dissertation program, which provides advanced credentials with less traditional research barriers.

For students looking to quickly enter the workforce or transition careers, exploring the easiest bachelor's degree to get can be a strategic starting point, especially when paired with technical electives related to electronics and engineering.

Moreover, combining electronics knowledge with law enforcement or legal investigations can lead to specialized roles. Programs like an forensic degree online offer accessible options for those interested in forensic technologies tied to electrical and electronic systems.

These diverse online degrees and career pathways underscore the flexibility and breadth of opportunities available alongside traditional engineering studies, enabling students to find the best fit for their goals and lifestyles.
