Copenhagen Business School (CBS) is a public university based in the capital city of Denmark. It is regarded as a prestigious business school, not just in Europe, but in the world. Founded in 1917, CBS offers a wide array of bachelor’s and graduate degrees in the different fields of business with an interdisciplinary and international emphasis. Proof of its reputation is its “triple accreditation” by esteemed bodies like EQUIS, AMBA and AACSB, a rare feat worldwide.

The university is host to around 20,000 students, nearly 4,000 of whom are from other countries. While CBS offers courses primarily in business and economics, it also introduces students to other fields such as social sciences, I.T., politics, philosophy, language, communication and sociology, among other non-business areas. Overall, the academic programs are structured as three-year undergraduate degrees, two-year masteral degrees and three-year doctorate degrees. CBS also administers special programs, such as full-time MBA, Executive Master Programmes and diploma programs. Short courses are likewise offered.

The undergraduate degrees are divided into 18 bachelor’s degrees, eight of which are taught in English. Its degrees in business administration can be taken with select fields of specialization, for instance, commercial law, digital management, information systems, management science, market dynamics or organizational communication. Meanwhile, CBS also offers bachelor’s degrees with a global outlook, such as BScs in European Business, International Business and International Shipping and Trade.

As for postgraduate programs, the university has 39 masteral degrees with 11 taught in English. Students can focus on a wide range of disciplines, including economics, business administration, international business and social science.

Exchange programs are likewise available, as CBS is a member university of Partnership in International Management. Students can avail of double degrees by enrolling in CBS’ university partners in other countries. These include Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, University of California, Los Angeles, Duke University, University of Western Ontario, London School of Economics, Rotterdam School of Management, National University of Singapore and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

The university was founded in 1917 as a private institution, but in 1965, it was integrated into the country’s educational system for higher learning. It would eventually be placed under the Danish Universities Act of 2003.

Notable alumni include Soren Skou (CEO, AP Moller-Maersk), Lise Kingo (Executive DIrector, UN Global Compact), David Heinemeier Hansson (creator, Ruby on Rails) and Hannibal Muammar Gaddafi (Muammar Gaddafi’s son).
