An institution's position in the ranking is determined by aggregate D-indexes (Discipline H-indexes) of all affiliated scholars whose main area of publication is Electronics and Electrical Engineering. The D-index specifically accounts only for publications and citation data that fall within the targeted discipline, ensuring an accurate reflection of scholarly impact in this field.
Scope of Research and Evaluation Criteria
This ranking draws from a broad and diverse universe of researchers. A total of 279,971 scientist profiles, identified through a variety of bibliometric data sources, were examined. Out of these, 44,264 scientists specializing in Electronics and Electrical Engineering were analyzed in detail.
To ensure only highly impactful scholars are considered, a qualifying D-index threshold was set at 30. Additionally, a majority of each candidate's key publications needed to be in the area of Electronics and Electrical Engineering. The selection was further refined by taking into account each scientist’s awards and notable achievements in the field.
The D-index threshold for recognizing leading researchers is adjusted by increments of 10, tailored to the overall number of assessed scholars in each discipline. This approach guarantees inclusion of the top 1% of outstanding experts. Furthermore, only scientists with a proximity of 30% or less between their general H-index and their D-index were included, fortifying the discipline-specific accuracy. Scientist awards and significant field-specific achievements were also examined and considered.
Verification and Validation Practices
The creators of this ranking understand that raw data alone cannot comprehensively evaluate scholarly output. As such, all scientist profiles were manually verified and cross-referenced against publications in a broad range of reputable sources to ensure authenticity and accuracy.
While not a direct determinant of ranking position, the volume of papers published in prominent journals and conference proceedings acts as a valuable secondary indicator of a scientist’s contribution within Electronics and Electrical Engineering. Ultimately, the ranking is dictated by each researcher's H-index, as reported by the distinguished OpenAlex and CrossRef databases — leading bibliometric resources trusted by the global academic community.
