Data Sources and Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Psychology Scientists in Qatar Ranking is primarily based on comprehensive bibliometric data sourced from OpenAlex and CrossRef, supplemented by multiple other reputable data collections. The citation-based metrics utilized to devise the ranking were extracted on January 12, 2026, ensuring recent and robust data coverage. A researcher’s position within the ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), a specialized metric that exclusively includes papers and citations pertinent to the examined discipline—in this case, Psychology—thus providing a focused and discipline-specific assessment of scholarly impact.
Scope of Research
To compile the ranking, a total of 279,971 scientist profiles identified across a variety of bibliometric platforms and spanning all scientific disciplines were examined. Within the Psychology discipline specifically, 1,000 scientist profiles were analyzed. Eligibility for inclusion in the ranking required a minimum D-index of 30, with the majority of tier publications demonstrably situated within the field of Psychology. In addition, consideration was given to scientists’ awards and professional achievements related to Psychology to adequately capture their scholarly distinction.
The D-index threshold for consideration is adjusted in increments of 10, calibrated according to the total estimated number of scholars within each discipline. This approach guarantees that the top 1% of leading experts are incorporated across all fields. Additionally, to ensure discipline specificity, a proximity threshold is applied whereby the difference between a scientist’s overall H-index and their Psychology-specific D-index must not exceed 30%.
Verification and Quality Assurance
Recognizing that raw bibliometric data can never serve as an absolute measure of scholarly output, the Research.com team meticulously undertook manual verification of all scientist profiles. Each was cross-correlated against publications indexed in a diverse array of trusted sources. While the number of publications in prominent journals and conference proceedings does not directly influence the ranking position, it remains a valuable secondary indicator of a scientist’s contribution to research within Psychology.
The final ranking positions are established based on each researcher’s D-index, calculated using data gathered from OpenAlex and CrossRef, which are among the most prominent and respected bibliometric databases accessible to the research community.
