Sources of Data and Citation Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Mathematics Scientists in Jordan Ranking is primarily based on bibliometric data harvested from OpenAlex and CrossRef, two of the most prominent and reliable databases accessible to the global research community. To ensure comprehensiveness and accuracy, multiple other data sources were also utilized in aggregating relevant publication and citation records. The citation-based metrics that underpin this ranking were collected on January 12, 2026, providing a recent and robust snapshot of research impact.
A scientist’s position within the ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), a refined bibliometric indicator that accounts exclusively for publications and citation metrics within the examined discipline of Mathematics. This discipline-specific approach allows for precise comparison of researchers' contributions and influence within the field.
Scope of Research and Eligibility Criteria
The ranking process examined 279,971 scientist profiles identified from a broad spectrum of bibliometric repositories spanning all academic disciplines. Specifically, six scientists specializing in Mathematics were assessed for inclusion. To qualify for the Mathematics ranking, a researcher’s D-index had to be at least 30, ensuring a focus on highly productive and impactful contributors. Furthermore, the majority of the candidate’s tier publications were required to be within the field of Mathematics, reflecting authentic disciplinary focus.
In addition to bibliometric thresholds, scientists’ awards and achievements in Mathematics were carefully considered as part of the qualification process. The D-index cutoff for top researchers is dynamically set in increments of 10, calibrated according to the estimated total number of scholars within each discipline. This methodology guarantees the inclusion of the top 1% of leading scholars, while maintaining a proximity of 30% or less between a scientist’s general H-index and their D-index—ensuring that their disciplinary impact is in reasonable alignment with their overall academic profile.
Additional Verification Practices
Recognizing that raw bibliometric data alone cannot serve as an absolute measure of scholarly achievement, the Research.com team conducted meticulous manual verifications of all scientist profiles considered for the ranking. Each profile was cross-correlated against publications indexed in a wide variety of credible and authoritative sources to confirm accuracy and relevance.
While the volume of papers published in prominent journals and conference proceedings does not directly influence a researcher’s rank, it is regarded as a valuable secondary signal of academic contribution within specific domains. The final ranked positions are exclusively established using each researcher’s D-index as calculated from information gathered through OpenAlex and CrossRef, thereby leveraging the most comprehensive and trusted bibliometric datasets available.
