In addition to bibliometric measures, scientists’ awards and noteworthy achievements relevant to Electronics and Electrical Engineering were also considered as qualitative factors.
The threshold for the D-index was dynamically set in increments of 10, depending on the estimated total number of scholars within each discipline. This methodology guarantees that the top 1% of leading experts in Electronics and Electrical Engineering are incorporated into the list. Lastly, a proximity criterion was applied whereby the difference between a scientist’s overall H-index and their D-index had to be 30% or less, reaffirming the researcher’s concentrated impact within the specific discipline.
Additional Verification Practices
Recognizing that raw bibliometric data alone cannot comprehensively capture the multifaceted contributions of researchers, the compilation team performed meticulous manual verifications of all scientist profiles. Each researcher’s publication record was cross-correlated against a broad range of trustworthy and authoritative sources to ensure accuracy and authenticity.
Although the count of publications in prominent journals and conference proceedings does not directly influence a researcher’s placement within the Research.com ranking, it is acknowledged as an important secondary signal that supports the assessment of a scientist’s role and contributions within the domain.
The final ranking position is fundamentally established using the D-index derived from data collected via OpenAlex and CrossRef, which remain among the foremost bibliometric databases accessible to the global research community.
