The threshold for the D-index is set as increments of 10, calibrated relative to the estimated total number of scholars in each discipline, thereby guaranteeing that the top 1% of leading experts in Economics and Finance are included. Furthermore, a proximity criterion was applied whereby the general H-index and the D-index of a scientist must not differ by more than 30%, ensuring discipline-specific excellence aligns reasonably with overall scholarly impact.
