This emphasis on the H-index ensures a transparent and standardized evaluation reflective of significant research contributions.
Scope of Research
The breadth of this ranking is considerable: we examined 279,971 scientist profiles across all major scientific disciplines, aggregating data from an array of bibliometric sources. In order to account for differences inherent to various fields, qualifying H-index thresholds were established individually for each research area, with typical requirements set at 30 or 40.
In addition to quantitative citation metrics, the evaluation process also considered each scientist’s distinguished awards and achievements within their specific field of study. To uphold selectivity and highlight only the most impactful researchers, the final published ranking features the top 1,000 scientists who achieved the highest H-index scores.
Verification and Quality Assurance
Understanding the nuances and limitations of raw bibliometric data, the Research.com team implemented rigorous additional verification procedures. Every scientist profile was subject to manual review and cross-referenced against publications in a broad spectrum of trustworthy sources to ensure accuracy and integrity.
While the quantity of papers published in leading journals and conference proceedings does not directly impact a scientist's position in the ranking, this information serves as a valuable secondary indicator of their research contribution within a specific scientific area. Researchers’ final ranks are determined based solely on their H-index, as derived from OpenAlex and CrossRef databases.
