The foundation of an institution’s position in the ranking is the aggregate of D-indexes (Discipline H-index) of all ranking scholars affiliated with that university. The D-index is calculated by considering publications and citation data focused strictly on a given discipline, ensuring a highly granular measure of scholarly influence. However, the ranking encompasses scientists from all major research areas, providing a comprehensive evaluation of institutional research excellence across a broad spectrum of academic fields.
Scope of Research Considered
The scope and depth of the ranking are substantial, with 279,971 scientist profiles identified and examined across a diverse set of bibliometric data sources. These profiles cover all leading scientific disciplines, ensuring a representative assessment of Polish academic institutions.
For inclusion in the ranking, each scientist was required to have a minimum D-index threshold of 20, underscoring a sustained and meaningful contribution to their field. In addition to bibliometric indicators, the evaluation also factored in scientists’ awards and achievements, acknowledging outstanding successes and recognition within their respective research communities.
Verification and Data Integrity Practices
The Research.com team recognizes that raw bibliometric data is an important but not an absolute metric for evaluating scholarly output. To strengthen the accuracy and reliability of the ranking, all scientist profiles underwent manual verification and were cross-referenced with publications appearing in reputable and trusted sources. This comprehensive approach ensures the validity and accuracy of our evaluations.
While the number of papers published in top-tier journals and major conference proceedings does not directly contribute to a researcher’s ranking in the Research.com methodology, it remains a valuable secondary indicator of scientific impact and contribution within a field.
The ranking positions are established based on each researcher’s H-index, as derived from OpenAlex and CrossRef—two of the most respected and widely recognized bibliometric databases available to the scientific community worldwide.
