For this edition, all bibliometric data used to devise citation-based metrics were collected as of 2024-11-27. The position of each institution in the ranking is determined on the basis of the sum of D-indexes (Discipline H-indexes) of all ranking scholars affiliated with that institution. The D-index reflects exclusively the publications and citation data within a specified discipline, ensuring a focused evaluation of a scholar's impact in their primary research field. Scientists from all major research areas were considered in the development of the ranking, supporting a broad and inclusive perspective.
Scope of Research Considered
The ranking process encompassed a comprehensive analysis of 279,971 scientist profiles identified through a combination of bibliometric data sources. Scholars from all significant scientific disciplines were considered to provide a holistic view of research excellence across the academic spectrum.
To ensure a high standard of accomplishment, only scientists meeting a qualifying D-index threshold of 20 were included in the final evaluation. In addition to bibliometric performance, individual awards and other notable achievements within their fields of study were also taken into account, further enriching the context of the ranking.
Verification and Additional Qualitative Considerations
The Research.com team recognizes that quantitative data alone cannot capture the full scope of scholarly output and contribution. As a critical step in our methodology, all scientist profiles were manually verified and their publication records were cross-correlated against a wide range of trustworthy sources. This meticulous approach provides added confidence in the validity and integrity of the data.
While not directly affecting a researcher's position in the Research.com ranking, the number of papers published in prominent journals and conference proceedings is noted as a valuable secondary indicator of a scholar’s contribution within their respective disciplines. Ultimately, the ranking position is established using each researcher’s H-index, derived from the latest information available via OpenAlex and CrossRef, forming a strong basis for reliable and consistent bibliometric assessment.
