A scientist’s position within this ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), a metric that refines the traditional H-index by focusing exclusively on publications and citations within the specific discipline of Physics. This approach ensures a precise and discipline-specific evaluation of research impact, avoiding inflation from work outside the examined field.
Scope of Research and Selection Criteria
The ranking encompasses a comprehensive analysis of 279,971 scientist profiles identified across a variety of bibliometric data sources, spanning all scientific disciplines. Specifically for Physics, 65 scientists based in the Netherlands were rigorously examined. To qualify for inclusion in the ranking, a researcher’s D-index had to be at least 70, with the majority of their tier publications concentrated in the field of Physics.
