The bibliometric data employed to devise the citation-based metrics were collected on January 12, 2026, ensuring the ranking reflects the most current and accurate scholarly information.
A scientist's position within the ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), a discipline-specific variant of the traditional H-index. The D-index strictly evaluates papers and citations within the examined discipline, thereby providing a more accurate representation of a researcher’s impact in the field of Mathematics.
Scope of Research and Ranking Qualification Criteria
The scope of this ranking encompasses a detailed examination of 279,971 scientist profiles identified from a variety of bibliometric data sources spanning all disciplines. Specifically, within the Mathematics discipline, 4 scientists were carefully evaluated. To qualify for inclusion in the ranking, a scientist must have a D-index of at least 30, and a majority of their tier publications must be within the field of Mathematics.
Besides bibliometric metrics, scientists’ awards and achievements relevant to Mathematics have also been considered to provide a more holistic evaluation. The threshold for the D-index used to identify top researchers is calibrated in increments of 10 based on the estimated total number of active scholars in each discipline.
