The ranking evaluation considered a total of 279,971 scientist profiles gathered from diverse bibliometric data sources across all disciplines. Specifically, 37 scientists specializing in Mathematics were examined for inclusion in this list. To qualify for the ranking, a scientist’s D-index had to be at least 30, and a majority of their high-tier publications were required to be focused in the area of Mathematics.
In addition to bibliometric criteria, scientists’ awards and achievements within the field of Mathematics were also taken into account as part of the evaluation process. The threshold for the D-index is established in increments of 10, adjusted according to the estimated total number of scholars in each discipline. This method guarantees incorporation of the top 1% of leading scholars. Furthermore, to ensure an accurate reflection of disciplinary specialization, the selected scientists exhibit a difference of 30% or less between their general H-index and their D-index.

The researchers behind this ranking recognize that raw bibliometric data alone cannot serve as an absolute measure for evaluating a scholar’s output. Therefore, all scientist profiles included in the ranking underwent manual verification and were cross-correlated against publications indexed in a wide range of trustworthy and authoritative sources. This meticulous validation helps to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the profiles featured.
Although not directly influencing the ranking positions, the quantity of papers published in prominent journals and esteemed conference proceedings is regarded as a valuable secondary signal of a researcher's contributions within Mathematics. The ranking positions themselves are ultimately established using each scientist’s D-index, derived from information collected through OpenAlex and CrossRef—two of the most prominent bibliometric databases accessible to the global research community.
