Data Sources and Ranking Basis
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Economics and Finance Scientists in Czechia Ranking was developed using comprehensive bibliometric data primarily sourced from OpenAlex and CrossRef, alongside multiple other reputable data repositories. The citation-based metrics, underpinning the ranking framework, were meticulously collected on January 12, 2026. The ranking methodology centers on a researcher’s D-index (Discipline H-index), a refined metric that exclusively accounts for publications and citation counts pertinent to the specific discipline under review. This ensures that each scientist’s position genuinely reflects their impact within the field of Economics and Finance.
Scope of Research and Ranking Criteria
The ranking examined an extensive set of 279,971 scientist profiles, identified from a variety of bibliometric data sources across all academic disciplines. Within this broad scope, 4,000 scientists specifically from Economics and Finance were analyzed in detail. To qualify for inclusion, researchers were required to have a minimum D-index of 30, with the majority of their tier publications firmly situated within the Economics and Finance domain. In addition to bibliometric indicators, scientists’ awards and professional achievements within the field were carefully considered as contributory factors.
The D-index threshold is calibrated dynamically in increments of 10, adapted to the estimated population size of scholars in each discipline. This approach ensures that the ranking encapsulates the top 1% of leading experts accurately. Furthermore, to reflect consistent disciplinary focus, a proximity threshold between an individual’s general H-index and their D-index is maintained at 30% or less, ensuring that the researcher’s impact in Economics and Finance is representative and not diluted by unrelated fields.
Additional Verification and Methodological Rigor
The researchers responsible for compiling this ranking recognize that raw bibliometric data alone cannot fully capture the scholarly output and contribution of scientists. In acknowledgment of this complexity, all scientist profiles were manually verified and cross-validated against publications in a diverse array of trusted and authoritative sources. This rigorous verification mitigates potential inaccuracies and strengthens the ranking’s credibility.
While the number of publications in prominent journals and conference proceedings is not directly factored into the ranking position, it remains an important secondary signal that reflects a researcher’s active contribution and recognition within their field. The position of each scientist in the ranking is principally determined by the D-index calculations based on data from OpenAlex and CrossRef — widely recognized as the most prominent and reliable bibliometric databases available to the global research community.
