Overview of Obour Institutes
Obour Institutes, officially known as the Higher Institutes at Obour, were established in 1993 as a private, multidisciplinary higher education provider in Egypt. Situated in El Obour City, on the outskirts of Cairo, the Institutes have evolved over three decades to become a pivotal part of Egypt’s non-governmental higher education sector. The campus hosts more than 15,000 students and encompasses several academic faculties, reflecting significant growth in both size and reputation. As a comprehensive academic institution, Obour Institutes offer a breadth of programs that attract diverse learners from across Egypt and the broader region.
The Institutes are particularly recognized for their strength in engineering, computer science, business administration, and mass communication. Academic offerings span more than ten specialized fields, supported by a modular, student-centered educational model that prioritizes practical training and interdisciplinary collaboration. Obour Institutes foster a robust research environment, evidenced by increasing participation in national and regional research initiatives, industry partnerships, and co-organized international conferences. Successful graduates are widely employed in sectors such as civil engineering, IT, and business. The Institutes' commitment to academic excellence is also seen in strategic collaborations with international universities, as well as their role in the Egyptian Higher Education Consortium.
Campus life at Obour Institutes is vibrant and inclusive, offering over 30 active student clubs and societies devoted to athletics, cultural heritage, scientific inquiry, and social engagement. Numerous on-campus events—including art exhibitions, public lectures, and innovation challenges—encourage student participation and leadership. Comprehensive support services, such as academic advising, career counseling, and language workshops, foster well-rounded personal and professional development. The Institutes embrace a multicultural student body and invest in modern sports facilities, performance arts spaces, and accessible housing, ensuring a comprehensive student experience both inside and outside the classroom.
Obour Institutes’ mission is to produce socially responsible graduates through commitment to educational innovation, sustainability, and equity. The institution pursues academic excellence while nurturing global citizenship and lifelong learning among its students and community.
