Scope of Research and Selection Criteria
The scope of this edition’s ranking is notable for its breadth and precision. A total of 279,971 scientist profiles were examined from a wide range of bibliometric data sources, and within this set, 44,264 scientists specializing in Electronics and Electrical Engineering were specifically analysed.
The qualifying D-index threshold for each scientist was set at 30, mandating that the majority of their tier publications pertain to Electronics and Electrical Engineering. Further, a scientist’s awards and achievements in the discipline were considered as part of the evaluation process. To ensure that the ranking accurately captures the upper echelon of researchers, the D-index threshold for top researchers is incremented by 10 based on the estimated total number of scholars per discipline. This approach guarantees that the top 1% of leading scholars are represented.
Additionally, there must be a proximity of 30% or less between a scientist’s general H-index and their D-index, ensuring strong specialization. Recognitions, awards, and contributions were also factored into each scientist's assessment, further enhancing the credibility and rigor of the ranking.
Additional Verification and Quality Assurance Practices
We recognize that raw data alone does not provide an absolute measure of a scholar’s research output; therefore, all scientist profiles were subjected to manual verification. This process included cross-correlating researcher profiles and publication records across a wide variety of trustworthy sources.
While the number of papers published in leading journals and conference proceedings is not a direct factor in a researcher’s rank, it provides a valuable secondary indicator of scholarly contribution. The final ranking position is determined using each researcher’s H-index as collected from OpenAlex and CrossRef—two of the most established and widely recognized bibliometric databases available to the research community.
