The dataset used for calculating citation-based metrics reflects bibliometric data collected on 2024-11-27.
Each institution's position in the ranking is determined by the sum of the D-indexes (Discipline H-index) of all qualifying scholars affiliated with that university whose primary publication area is Chemistry. The D-index is calculated by considering exclusively publications and citation data relevant to Chemistry, ensuring accurate representation of scientific contribution within the discipline.
Scope of Research and Evaluation Criteria
For this ranking, a comprehensive approach was adopted to ensure robust and meaningful results:
- 279,971 scientist profiles were examined across multiple bibliometric sources.
- Of these, 279,971 scientist profiles specialized in Chemistry were analyzed in depth.
- A qualifying D-index threshold of 40 was set for each scientist. Additionally, for top researchers, this threshold was incremented by 10 depending on the total number of scholars in each discipline to guarantee at least the top 1% of leading scholars are included.
- A majority of each scholar’s high-impact publications needed to fall within the Chemistry discipline.
- There must be a proximity of 30% or less between a scientist’s general H-index and D-index.
- Scientist’s awards and notable achievements in Chemistry were also considered as additional distinguishing factors.
