Data Sources and Citation Metrics
The 12th edition of the Research.com Best Computer Science Scientists in Bangladesh Ranking is founded on comprehensive bibliometric data aggregated primarily from OpenAlex and CrossRef, complemented by multiple other reputable data sources. The citation-based metrics used to establish the rankings were collected on January 12, 2026, ensuring the inclusion of the most up-to-date scholarly information. Each scientist’s position in the ranking is determined by their D-index (Discipline H-index), a specialized metric that accounts exclusively for papers and citation counts within the examined discipline of Computer Science, providing a precise measure of research impact relevant to the field.
Scope of Research and Eligibility Criteria
The ranking evaluates an extensive dataset consisting of 279,971 scientist profiles identified across a broad range of bibliometric sources, covering all disciplines globally, with particular focus on 2,031 scientists specifically affiliated with Computer Science. To qualify for inclusion in this ranking, researchers must possess a D-index of at least 30, with the majority of their tier publications centered on Computer Science. Additionally, significant awards and notable achievements within the field of Computer Science further qualify a researcher’s candidacy.
The threshold for the D-index is dynamically set in increments of 10, calibrated according to the estimated total number of scholars in each discipline. This adaptive standard ensures the representation of the top 1% of leading experts within the discipline. Moreover, in order to maintain coherence between general and discipline-specific impact, the allowed difference between a scientist’s general H-index and their D-index is limited to 30% or less, reinforcing the discipline-focused nature of the evaluation.
Additional Verification Practices
Recognizing the limitations of raw bibliometric data as an absolute tool for evaluating scholarly output, the research team behind this ranking has undertaken rigorous manual verification of all scientist profiles. These verifications were conducted by cross-correlating data with publications indexed in a wide array of authoritative and trustworthy academic sources to ensure accuracy and reliability.
While not directly influencing the ranking position, the volume of publications in high-impact journals and prestigious conference proceedings serves as a valuable secondary signal of a scientist’s contribution to their area of expertise. It adds an additional layer of qualitative insight beyond citation metrics.
The ranking position itself is determined using each researcher’s D-index, calculated based on records from OpenAlex and CrossRef—two of the most prominent and widely respected bibliometric databases accessible to the research community.
