Data Sources and Ranking Metrics
The 5th edition of the Research.com Best Business and Management Scientists in Monaco Ranking is founded on comprehensive bibliometric data primarily sourced from OpenAlex and CrossRef, augmented by multiple other reputable data repositories. The citation-based metrics utilized in the compilation of this ranking were meticulously collected on January 12, 2026. A scientist’s position within the ranking is determined based on their D-index (Discipline H-index), a metric that exclusively incorporates publications and citation data relevant to the examined discipline, thereby providing a focused assessment of impact within Business and Management.
Scope of Research and Eligibility Criteria
To establish the scope of this ranking, 279,971 scientist profiles identified across diverse bibliometric data sources and scholarly repositories were examined across all academic disciplines. Within this broad set, 1,000 scientists specializing in Business and Management were specifically analyzed. Qualification for inclusion in the ranking required a minimum D-index of 30, with the majority of each scientist’s tier publications firmly situated within the domain of Business and Management. Additionally, awards and notable achievements in the field were factored into the evaluation process.
The D-index threshold for top researcher consideration was calibrated in increments of 10 relative to the estimated total scholar population within each discipline. This calibration guarantees the inclusion of the top 1% of leading experts. Furthermore, to ensure discipline-specific focus and consistency, a proximity criterion was applied stipulating that the gap between a scientist’s general H-index and their D-index should not exceed 30%.
Verification and Methodological Rigor
Recognizing the inherent limitations of raw bibliometric data as an absolute measure of scholarly output, the Research.com team undertook extensive manual verification of all scientist profiles. Publications were cross-correlated against a broad spectrum of trustworthy academic sources to validate accuracy and relevance. Although the number of papers published in prominent journals and conference proceedings does not directly influence the ranking position, it serves as a valuable secondary indicator of a researcher’s contribution to their scientific field.
The ranking positions derive solely from each researcher’s D-index, computed from citation and publication data gathered from OpenAlex and CrossRef, acknowledged as two of the most comprehensive and authoritative bibliometric databases available to the research community.
