The International University of Rabat (Université Internationale de Rabat, UIR) was established in 2010 in Rabat, Morocco’s vibrant capital. As a private yet publicly-supported institution, UIR was conceived through a unique public-private partnership to address Morocco’s evolving educational and socioeconomic needs. The university boasts a modern ‘smart campus’ on the outskirts of Rabat, serving a dynamic body of over 8,000 students, and encompasses 12 faculties and schools. UIR’s comprehensive model integrates robust research activity with a broad spectrum of academic disciplines, positioning it as a pioneering force in the Moroccan and African higher education landscapes.
UIR has distinguished itself through innovative academic programs, particularly in engineering, computer science, renewable energy, business administration, law, political science, and aeronautics. The university’s interdisciplinary approach blends theoretical foundations with experiential learning and real-world problem solving, fostering job-ready graduates. UIR engages in extensive international collaboration, maintaining more than 120 academic partnerships and offering dual-degree programs with renowned institutions such as Sciences Po, Georgia Tech, and the University of Nantes. The university consistently ranks among Morocco’s top private universities for research output, with laboratories recognized for their contributions to energy transition, digital transformation, and social sciences. UIR’s alumni network is increasingly influential in Moroccan and regional innovation ecosystems.
Student life at UIR is vibrant and diverse. The campus supports over 50 student-run clubs spanning academic, cultural, sporting, and entrepreneurial interests, including Model United Nations and robotics clubs.
