A university’s position in the ranking is determined by the aggregate D-index (Discipline H-index) of all scholars affiliated with the institution whose primary field of publication is Chemistry. Notably, the D-index takes into account exclusively publications and citation data within the examined discipline, ensuring the ranking remains sharply focused on Chemistry research output.
Scope and Selection Criteria
This ranking is founded on a broad and precise analysis covering 279,971 scientist profiles identified from a variety of bibliometric data sources. Of these, 279,971 scientists specializing in Chemistry were meticulously analyzed.
To qualify, each scientist was required to meet a minimum D-index threshold of 40. The majority of their publications also had to be primarily in Chemistry. Achievements and prestigious awards in the discipline were taken into account as additional factors. The D-index threshold for inclusion as a top researcher was incremented by 10 depending on the total pool of scholars for each discipline, thereby ensuring that the leading top 1% of practitioners are included in the list. To maintain discipline-specific relevancy, a proximity of 30% or less was maintained between a scientist’s overall H-index and their Chemistry D-index. Scientists’ professional recognition—such as awards in their respective fields—was also considered in the evaluation process.
