The University of Macau (UM) was established in 1981 and is the largest and only public comprehensive university in the Macau Special Administrative Region, China. Originally founded as the University of East Asia, it adopted its current name in 1991. UM is located on Hengqin Island, within a modern, purpose-built campus spanning around 1.09 km².
