St. Andrews University was a private institution in Laurinburg, North Carolina, that closed in 2025. Its roots were in two Presbyterian-affiliated schools: Flora Macdonald College and Presbyterian Junior College. Their consolidation led to the opening of St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg in 1961.
The college later adopted the name St. Andrews University and became affiliated with Webber International University, operating as its Laurinburg branch campus. That relationship matters when reading older catalogs, accreditation records, and transcripts: a record may identify either St. Andrews or Webber. Prospective students should not treat historical program descriptions as evidence that the Laurinburg campus still enrolls students.
St. Andrews offered undergraduate study across the liberal arts, sciences, business, and education, alongside programs associated with its equestrian tradition. Historical program listings included business administration, psychology, biology, education, and equine-related study.
The campus also offered graduate-level study. A historical major name is not, however, evidence that a degree remains available through Webber International University or another institution. Former students seeking to finish a degree should compare their catalog requirements with a receiving institution's current program and obtain a written evaluation of their completed coursework.
The St. Andrews campus was in Laurinburg, the Scotland County seat in southeastern North Carolina. Laurinburg is a small-city setting rather than a large metropolitan college district; US 74 is a principal regional road connection.
For students who previously lived or studied there, transportation planning would generally have depended on a car or arranged travel. The Laurinburg location should not be confused with the University of St Andrews in Scotland or with Webber International University's campus in Florida.
St. Andrews described its educational purpose in terms of liberal learning, practical preparation, and responsible participation in society. Its history was connected to Presbyterian higher education, although students studied in a range of secular academic fields.
Those statements describe the institution's aims, not independently measured outcomes. Because the Laurinburg campus has closed, its former mission should be read as historical context rather than as a description of a currently available student experience.
