The D-index measures exclusively the publications and citation impact for a specific discipline, though scientists from all major areas of research were included in constructing the ranking itself. This approach ensures a fair and discipline-sensitive comparison across institutions.
Scope of Research Considered
To ensure the ranking accurately reflects research excellence across all fields, a rigorous analysis of 279,971 scientist profiles was undertaken, leveraging diverse and extensive bibliometric data sources. The assessment encompassed all major scientific disciplines, capturing the breadth and depth of scholarly activity.
A qualifying threshold was set: only scientists with a D-index of at least 20 in their discipline were considered. In addition to quantitative citation metrics, qualitative indicators such as individual awards and notable achievements in a given field of study were factored in, providing a more holistic perspective on each scholar’s influence and reputation.
Verification and Data Validation Practices
The Research.com team recognizes that bibliometric data alone cannot wholly capture the significance of each scholar's contributions. Accordingly, every scientist profile included in our ranking underwent manual verification and was cross-referenced against publication data from a wide range of authoritative sources.
Although the number of papers published in leading journals and conference proceedings does not directly determine an individual’s or institution’s position in the ranking, it is considered an important secondary indicator of research productivity and impact.
The ranking’s methodology is anchored in each researcher’s H-index, calculated strictly on data from OpenAlex and CrossRef, which are widely regarded as the most authoritative bibliometric databases in the research community. This rigorous approach guarantees an objective and accurate evaluation of scholarly output and influence.
