An institution’s placement in the ranking is determined by aggregating the D-indexes (Discipline H-indexes) of all qualifying scholars affiliated with that institution. The D-index is a specialized metric calculated exclusively from publications and citation data focused on a specific discipline, ensuring precise and discipline-aware evaluation. While the D-index is discipline-specific, scholars from all major research areas—spanning the sciences, engineering, social sciences, and humanities—were included in the analysis to reflect the full diversity of research excellence in Argentina.
Scope of Research Assessed
The ranking methodology is based on an extensive examination of 279,971 scientist profiles sourced from a wide variety of bibliometric databases. These profiles cover all major scientific disciplines, underlining the comprehensive nature of our evaluation.
To ensure only the most impactful researchers were included, we implemented a qualifying D-index threshold of 20 for consideration. In addition to bibliometric indicators, notable awards and significant achievements within each scholar's field of study were also taken into account to provide a multidimensional perspective of academic distinction.
Verification and Validation Practices
At Research.com, we recognize that relying solely on raw data is insufficient for capturing the true breadth and depth of scholarly impact. To address this, every scientist profile included in the ranking underwent rigorous manual verification. This process involved cross-correlation of publication records against a wide array of trustworthy sources to confirm affiliation and research output authenticity.
Although the frequency of publications in prominent journals and leading conference proceedings is not a direct factor in determining a researcher’s ranking, it is acknowledged as a valuable supplementary indicator of sustained scholarly contribution within specific scientific areas.
The final ranking positions are grounded in each researcher's H-index, calculated on the basis of data drawn from OpenAlex and CrossRef—the most prominent and broadly used bibliometric databases available to the global research community.
