The D-index threshold varies in increments of 10, calibrated according to the estimated total number of scholars within each discipline, to consistently incorporate the top 1% of leading experts. Moreover, the proximity between a researcher’s overall H-index and their D-index must be within 30%, ensuring discipline-specific excellence aligns closely with their general scholarly impact.
