KCU students should use the university's campus safety procedures for emergencies, incident reporting, and support. For an immediate emergency in either Kansas City or Joplin, call 911; students should also learn their campus-specific security contacts and emergency notification procedures.
The university's annual security reporting under the federal Clery Act is a useful place to review reported campus crimes, reporting options, and institutional policies. Its Title IX procedures address reports of sex-based misconduct and related support measures. Crime figures need context: they cover defined locations and reporting periods and cannot, by themselves, establish how safe an individual will feel or be. Applicants who will spend time at off-campus clinical sites should ask how that site communicates emergencies and handles incidents.
